funny! And LACE? Never heard of it before I wrote this story.
Obviously, neither had Vanelossë or Legolas!
This story
was written a long time ago and posted before I discovered betas so
please forgive the mistakes. I have too many WIPs now to rewrite it.
Chapter 11
Happy Endings??
“I am just surprised. Please come inside.”
Arwen followed her into the house and they both sat down. Arwen looked at her and smiled
“How are you?”
“I am fine. How are you?”
“I am fine as well. I did not know if you and Legolas got anything
settled last night. Aragorn told me that when he left, Legolas was here
talking to you.”
Vanelossë smiled “So you did talk to Aragorn? Have you forgiven him yet?”
“I am letting him squirm just a bit.” Arwen giggled. “I told him it
depended on how you felt towards the two of them before he was off the
hook with me yet. I am making both of my brothers squirm, as well. But
they all deserve it. What they did was terrible.”
“Yes, I know but after Aragorn explained to me the whole intent behind
it, it was a little easier to forgive. But I do not think that either
of them will be doing any betting for awhile.”
Arwen smiled. The two of them became very quiet.
“So Arwen, are we all right? You and I? I am sorry I never told you but I just could not. Besides it was so long ago.”
”We are fine. You are right, it was a long time ago and it was before
he even met me so I cannot really complain. It is a little strange to
think that you two had been lovers.”
Blushing furiously, Vanelossë did not say anything because she did not know what to say.
Arwen smiled at her “But I guess if any woman were to see him naked, I would rather it be you than anyone else.”
”I do not intend to see him naked again if that helps.” Vanelossë smiled.
“Yes, that does help. At least I know I do not have to worry about you
trying to seduce him like some former lovers would have done.”
“Arwen, I could jump in his bed completely nude and he would still
reject me now that he is in love with you.” Vanelossë said seriously.
“I hope so. But please, let’s not try it out.”
”Do you want to make a bet on it?” Vanelossë said mischievously.
Arwen dissolved into laughter and the two of them laughed until they cried.
Arwen looked at her and still laughing, said, “I have a feeling that it is not Aragorn that you are even thinking about now.”
“What are you talking about Arwen?” Vanelossë said innocently.
“Please, Van. He disappeared last night. He was last seen with you.
Until this morning, when I saw him leaving here. I am not that blind.”
Arwen sighed.
Vanelossë smiled. “Oh, Arwen. Now I know all of that silly nonsense
about love you were always talking about. I have never this way before.”
“That is because you have never been in love before.” Arwen whispered
“And neither has he. He and I have had long discussions in the past
about his unwillingness to settle down despite everyone’s best efforts
to get him to. His father has urged him to give him grandchildren for
years. He feels that Legolas should have grandchildren or great
grandchildren of his own by now. But Legolas has always been a
romantic. He wanted to be in love before he had a wife and family. He
was afraid he would find the perfect woman after he had already made a
lifelong commitment to another woman.”
Vanelossë smiled and felt deliriously happy.
”And I have been telling my father for years now that you will settle
down and fall in love when you found the right man as well. I think he
was beginning to think it would never happen. I think he hoped deep
down inside that you would eventually fall in love with one of my
brothers but I knew you had more sense and better taste than that.”
Arwen laughed. “So where did Legolas go so quickly?” Arwen asked.
“He went to see if you had forgiven Aragorn.”
“How sweet. You two actually cared enough to even think about us on a day where you could hide from the world.”
“Now that I know, we can do that tomorrow!” Vanelossë laughed.
Arwen hugged her friend. “I am so glad that everything is back to
normal now. I guess it is not normal for you. It is better than normal
for you.”
Vanelossë blushed.
Over the next few weeks, the two couples used each other to explain
their unusual and frequent disappearances. Legolas and Vanelossë were
both so in love that Lord Elrond caught on without being told. The
twins found out when they came upon the two of them making love by the
waterfall’s pool. They had gotten so wrapped up in each other; neither
heard the twins until they saw them. As soon as they did, Legolas
grabbed her cloak and covered them both as the twins stumbled away in
shock. Deciding that they were too shocked to come back anyway, Legolas
and Vanelossë finished making love before they got dressed.
One day, they were swimming naked behind the waterfall and he said
softly. “Vanelossë, you know I have stayed here longer than I had
planned because of what has been going on between us but I am going to
need to return to Mirkwood soon.”
Turning away from him, her lip quivered as she nodded. She had been
dreading this moment for a long time knowing that this would end.
“Vanelossë, look at me.”
Vanelossë turned around in the water and he was smiling. “Will you come
with me? I know this is your home and I hate to ask you to leave but I
want you to come with me. And stay with me. Forever.”
She started laughing with tears in her eyes. “Are you serious?”
“Completely.”
“So I would be your……??”
“Wife. Mother of my children. Love of my life.” He smiled.
She threw her arms around him and began kissing him so much that he could barely breathe.
Pulling her away from him, he said seriously “That is a yes, right?”
She nodded and kissed him again. Then she started laughing.
“What?” He said smiling.
“I finally hooked the fish of Mirkwood.”
“Guess I am no longer elusive.” He smiled
“You better be elusive. To everyone but me of course.” She smiled as
she wrapped her legs around his waist. “Besides. Arwen and I made this
bet that you were not so elusive after all.”
Laughing he said, “You are so wicked. It is a good thing I am here to save you from your life of sin.”
“No way! I am never giving up my life of sin. I am just only sinning with you now.”
They laughed and kissed and laughed so more. He tried to get her to
come up on the rock with him so he could make love to her but she would
not. When he asked why, she just told him that he would not want to
know. He looked confused for a minute then realized what she probably
meant. After they began getting cold, they threw on their wet clothes
and left the secret pool area. Running back to her house, they made
love quickly before dinner.
That night at dinner, they told the others. Lord Elrond was very
pleased and said, “As her surrogate father, I must say that I am very
pleased with this news. It is a good match for both of you.”
Vanelossë smiled at Legolas and said, “He means he is glad he no longer has to worry about trying to keep up with me.”
Everyone laughed as Lord Elrond shrugged. Arwen got up and embraced
Vanelossë and as the men patted Legolas on the back. Aragorn gave
Vanelossë a long hug.
He whispered to her “I am glad you gave Legolas a second chance. It turned out to be worth it.”
She whispered back “Are you going to take credit for that?” She laughed when he nodded.
The twins gave Legolas a hard time for dashing all of their hopes
completely. Legolas leaned over and said “I trust you will stop
sneaking up to watch her at the waterfall now.”
“Oh, we stopped that when we caught you two together. We were afraid of what we might see.” Elrohir laughed.
As the others continued to talk excitedly about the two of them,
Legolas came up behind Vanelossë and put his arms around her waist.
Elrond watched the couple so obviously in love and he was very pleased.
He did not know how King Thranduil would feel but he was defiantly
happy for the two of them. He suspected that she would charm Thranduil
as she had every other man and he would be completely happy with the
pair. Plus he would finally have the grandchildren he had been so
desperate to have. He watched as Vanelossë kissed Legolas quickly and
walked over to him. When she sat down beside him, she looked serious.
“All of these years I have taken your wisdom for granted and now I need it.” She said.
Curious, he said “What is it, Vanelossë?”
“I love him terribly but I worry that maybe I am not the right type of
person to be a wife.” She said sadly. “I would rather give him up than
have him waste his life with the wrong person.”
He was thoughtful for a minute. “I have always seen a future with many
children for you. I feel sure that yours and Legolas’ paths have
crossed for a reason. You will never have complete happiness without
some tears or sadness but with love you can bear it all. Look at him.”
As she turned to look at Legolas, he continued. “Does he look like the
same man who walked into Rivendell all of those many weeks ago? No,
when he came to Rivendell he was a man always searching for true
happiness.” She looked back at him. “That man over there has finally
found it.”
She smiled brightly. “Lord Elrond, I am sorry for the way I have
behaved all these years and how much trouble I have always been. You
have been so much to me since my father left. I can never repay you.”
He reached out and stroked her face. “All I have ever wanted for you
was to finally have what you so needed to have. And with Legolas you
can have all that you every want or need out of life. You have been a
joy to me for many years because you have kept me young. I had to be to
keep up with you, of course.”
She laughed and got up and hugged him. “Thank you so much Lord Elrond. I will never forget all that you have done for me.”
That night after dinner, she and Legolas walked down to the waterfalls.
Sitting in the dark they just listened to the sounds of the water.
“Do you realize that if this waterfall were not here, I would never
have met Estel? And if he had never known about this waterfall, he
would never have come here with you. If he had not come here with you,
I would never have met you.” She said kissing him.
He kissed her deeply. “Vanelossë, I love you so much. I cannot imagine
not having you with me. I am so glad you are coming home with me.”
“How do you think your father will feel?”
“Thrilled! Once he meets you, he will fall in love as I have. And when
we start giving him grandchildren, he will love you even more.”
She was quiet. He looked down at her. “What is it, Melamin?”
“The thought of us having children is strange. I never thought about having children before.” She said quietly.
“If you do not want children, I will be disappointed but I will accept it.”
“No. I want children. It just seems so settled down for me. I never
thought I would be so settled down and tame as I am now. And I have
only been with you for weeks. In a few years I should be as calm as
Arwen.”
Legolas laughed, “You will never be completely calm or tame. You have
fire in your heart, which is what I love so much about you. You just
seem tame because you do not have to act wild to get attention. You get
attention from me because I love you. You do not have to work for it.
But I do not ever think you will be completely tame by any means. Who
knows, you might get bored with me in a few years. Maybe I am too tame
for you.”
She pulled him to her and whispered, “I will never get bored of you. I love you more than you will ever know.”
Putting her arms around his neck, she kissed him tenderly. They both
kissed for a long time. Every kiss was exciting to her yet it made her
feel safe.
Smiling, he said “If I ever get boring you can just do that whole
brazen temptress act with me and try to seduce me again. That will
continue to keep spice in our life for years to come.”
“Oh really.” She smiled. Jumping up, she started stripping off her
clothes. He could only see her in the moonlight but she looked
incredibly arousing. He let her take off all of her clothes and then
watched her walk into the water. When she screamed, he laughed.
“It is so cold.” She screamed.
“I knew that would stop you.” He said laughing harder.
“You want to bet?”
“No. No more bets.” Smiling, he watched her walk all of the way into
the water. When she went under the water, she came up laughing.
“It is not that cold after you get used to it. Come in with me. Please.”
Shaking his head, he got up and removed his clothes. Walking out to
her, he was freezing. When he went underwater, he came up quickly.
“This is freezing. I thought you said it was not that cold once you get used to it.”
She wrapped her arms around him and whispered in his ear. “I lied.”
